How to access NDIS?
Individuals who meet the specified eligibility criteria are referred to as participants. Participants can access NDIS benefits, receiving care and support according to their needs.
Eligibility
To qualify for NDIS funding, the following criteria must be met:
The individual must be between 7 and 65 years of age.
The individual must be a permanent resident, Australian citizen, or hold a special category visa.
The individual must require support from another person due to a permanent and significant disability.
The individual must use special equipment because of a permanent and significant disability.
The individual needs some level of support now to minimize future needs.Individuals who meet the specified eligibility criteria are referred to as participants. Participants can access NDIS benefits, receiving care and support according to their needs.
What Does the NDIS Fund?
The NDIS may provide funding for:
Assistance with household tasks and personal care activities.
Modifications to vehicles and homes.
Mobility aids and assistive technologies.
Transportation for participation in community, social, and employment activities.
Therapies related to the disability.
What the NDIS Does Not Fund
The NDIS will not provide funding for:
Supports that are not directly related to a person’s disability.
Services that are covered by other systems, like Medicare or the health system.
Routine living expenses that everyone is responsible for, such as food, utilities, and water.
Items or activities that may pose a risk of harm.
